As an author, writing books is an extension of his deep sense of responsibility towards society and the benefits it can derive from understanding ancient literatures in their true essence. In 2013, he took on a monumental task of writing a series of books on Ramayana; a series that brought the epic out of the closet and revealed the depth of learning hidden inside. He embarked on an ambitious project of a 6-volume series titled Ramayana – The Game of Life. It involved extensive research from original literatures like Valmiki Ramayana, Kamba Ramayana and Ramcharitamanas.
Roar with Courage (Book 1), Conquer Change (Book 2) and Adopt Patience (Book 3) from his book series ‘Ramayana - The Game of Life’ are national best sellers. Stand Strong (Book 4) has recently been released. These books distill lessons from Ramayana for contemporary life, providing deep insights on new-age subjects like how human relationships work or how they fail; how leaders can maximize their potential as leaders; and how the ancient epic holds immediate relevance to modern life.
His book titled ‘Open-Eyed Meditations’ is also a national best seller. It is a beautiful compilation of thoughts where each meditation takes you on a journey to the past to heal a problem in the present. He helps learn the art of meditation with eyes wide open as he observes the world around to lead his readers to enlightenment. He offers valuable nuggets of wisdom and action point resources to deal with every modern dilemma. His next book “The Chronicles of Hanuman” is an engaging and inspiring saga of the Monkey God. Replete with interesting folk tales, local lore about Hanuman temples across India and Hanuman prayers, this book is a reader’s delight.
At the Jaipur Literature Festival 2017, Shubha Vilas presented his unique perspectives as writer and publisher to nearly 1.2 million book lovers, on diverse topics ranging from copyright to creativity and happiness to Hanuman. Given his love for books, he heads Tulsi Books Publications, a publishing house interested in books that propagate spiritual thinking and reasoning.
